All About Our Balanced Body Combo Chairs

“A few well-designed movements, properly performed in a balanced sequence, are worth hours of sloppy calisthenics or forced contortion.”

Joseph Pilates

The Pilates Method helps you target muscles other workouts do not. Specifically, the deep muscles of the abdomen, back, and hips. To make the most of your Pilate’s journey, JLB Pilates incorporates many different apparatuses in our Pilates classes and private sessions. Here’s a closer look at one of our most effective tools: Combo Chair.

Why Would I Need to Use a Combo Chair?

At JLB Pilates, our goal is to heal through movement to improve your mind, body, and spirit. We want to challenge how your body moves as well as increase your overall strength, flexibility, and balance. Our goal is to challenge our clients regardless of their current level of flexibility or fitness. To do so, we often use a combo chair with our one-on-one clients.

The combo chair is an apparatus that stretches and strengthens multiple muscle groups at one time. You can use it on its own or in conjunction with a Trapeze Table. Our combo chair allows for rotational and reciprocal movement of arms and legs, isolating and strengthening smaller muscle groups that other workouts struggle to target. The chairs’ pedal offers up to 110 pounds of resistance to challenge even the most advanced Pilates practitioner.

What’s Special About the Balanced Body Combo Chair?

At JLB Pilates, we use the Balanced Body Combo Chair to create a total workout system. The Balanced Body chairs are based on Joseph Pilates’ original Wunda Chair. Combo Chairs have two sets of springs to provide a wide variety of spring changes to accommodate any Pilates practitioner. The chair has two adjustable handles to support clients in balance work and standing work. The chair’s pedals can function separately or together for added stability and support.

Can I Use a Combo Chair at JLB Pilates?

JLB Pilates incorporates this chair into many of our private sessions. These versatile apparatuses are beneficial for our newer practitioners of Pilates as well as clients who have followed the Pilates Method for years.

Keep in mind, the chair is just one tool in our toolbox at JLB Pilates. We also incorporate reformers, mat, spine correctors, towers, half barrels, props, the ladder barrel, the Cadillac, and the Ped-o-Pull to help you heal through movement and increase your strength and flexibility.
